WHY HOST A FORUM ON HIRING & WORKFORCE HOUSING?

Picture
To attract great people, we need great places to live. This full-day forum, brought to you by the City of Penticton’s Economic Development department, brings together representatives throughout the region to uncover new housing opportunities and enhance local recruitment efforts.
In today’s highly competitive hiring marketplace, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to attract and retain skilled labour. One of the greatest barriers includes our ever-tightening housing market and a shortage of suitable rental accommodation.
Let’s work together to find a solution.

Why Attend?
Hear from leading experts, take part in hands-on workshops, be inspired by the latest concepts and get results. Don’t miss keynote speaker Brock Dickinson, a global economic development specialist, who will reveal how employers can remain competitive despite challenges ahead.

This event will incorporate two streams of topics running simultaneously, essentially bringing together two forums under one roof. Participants can pick from either agenda, making it a relevant, impactful and value-packed day.

In today’s increasingly competitive hiring marketplace, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to attract and retain skilled labour. One of the greatest barriers to recruitment is a shortage of suitable housing options.
Let’s work together to find a solution.

HIRING | Do you struggle to attract & keep skilled employees? The recruitment space is challenged by a decreasing available work force and an increased requirement for employers to ‘sell’ their vacant positions to potential jobseekers.  This stream is designed to provide hands on training and valuable resources to those looking to up their game and reach the right labour market. Gain insight to position your organization to attract your ideal recruits. Learn about hiring incentives for ‘untapped’ labour markets. Ramp up your online presence on the free recruitment portal StartHereOkanagan.com. Or film your own recruitment video on-site with assistance from professional coaches (minimal fee)

WORKFORCE HOUSING | When it comes to housing, each industry has its own needs and cycles. Simultaneously, the development community is looking for ways to meet market demand.  This stream is designed to bring these groups together  to find workable solutions. Join investors, developers, planners, property managers, various levels of government and governing bodies, economic development specialists and other regional changemakers all under one roof. Through interactive sessions, we’ll work toward solutions.

The event wraps up with a wine and cheese networking reception.

Add-on option: Film your recruitment video
In today’s virtual world, videos are one of the driving forces for marketing your organization. A job posting provides details of the role, but a video can relay the essence of the company culture. We’re offering a  limited number of participants the option to film their own recruitment videos on-site, with assistance from professional coaches.
You’ll be building on the learnings from the morning session to define your organization’s messaging – a process specifically designed to help you come out with an elevator pitch for working at your company. For a minimal fee of $100, you’ll create a high-quality video, which will be added to StartHereOkanagan.com and that you can use for your own social media and website promotions.
